Katy’s Inn

In 2004, Cindy and David Tracey donated one of the rooms at Katy’s Inn to a featured poet at the Skagit River Poetry Festival. I was lucky enough to be that poet. Since then, I’ve returned to Katy’s Inn when I’ve needed a place — away from the distractions of home — to write. I believe that the house is a perfect place for writers: sumptuous breakfasts, late night cookies, and gorgeous rooms. So this year I asked to make our relationship official. I am now the Poet Laureate of Katy’s Inn. I’ve written a poem dedicated to the Inn — At the Corner of Washington and Third — and hope to find new and creative ways to give back to a place I have come to love.
